The rooster is one of the oldest characters in visual culture: herald of the dawn, emblem of courage, a familiar figure on weathervanes, ceramics and folk textiles across dozens of countries. Geometric Rooster takes that inherited image apart and rebuilds it in bold flat shapes and pure colour, where every angle is deliberate and every field of colour is chosen.
What makes it work is the balance. One foot stands in folk tradition — the proud silhouette everyone recognises. The other stands in contemporary graphic design — clean edges, strong contrast, no unnecessary detail. That clarity means the image reads from across a room and still rewards a close look.
It’s a piece that feels at home in a country kitchen as much as in a city apartment, and it pairs well with geometric works such as Mind Mosaic or, in three dimensions, the Cubist Metallic Cat sculpture.
The physical print. Part of a limited edition of 100, each copy printed by Lazarus in his Madrid studio and signed, stamped and numbered on the back (e.g. 12/100). The handmade rice paper from Vietnam (approx. 220 g/m²) suits the folk character of this piece; the 200 g/m² glossy photographic paper gives the colours maximum punch. Choose A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) or A3 (29.7 × 42 cm). No frame included; shipped in rigid cardboard within 3 days.
Ancient symbol. Bold new geometry.
