The Moai of Easter Island were built to project power across centuries. Moai Hostage finds dark comedy in that ambition — the ancient stone giant, bound and blindfolded, reduced from monument to captive. The joke is good. The sculpture is better.
This piece works on multiple levels simultaneously: as absurdist humour, as commentary on how civilisations fall, as a meditation on the gap between the power we project and the vulnerability we actually carry. It’s funny until it isn’t.
